Maruti Suzuki's upcoming offering in the sedan segment, Ciaz, is all set to embark on its new journey in the country in a few weeks from now.
Ciaz has gone live on the company website with the 'coming soon' tag and the company has also kick-started the pre-launch campaign for the Ciaz with the name #coolcatsintown.
Finally, the long wait for Maruti's Ciaz is getting over. The auto enthusiasts who have been drooling over this sedan can now sit and wait for the launch. Ciaz, the replacement of Maruti's underperforming SX4, was first seen at Delhi Auto Expo 2014 and since then the car has made numerous appearances on the web through spy shots and reports, giving us a clear picture on what to expect when it arrives in the market.
The latest set of Ciaz spy shots come from the folks at AutoCar India. In the images, the car's rear and side profiles have been featured and it looks like the car has a longer wheelbase and longer rear door.
As we already know, the new Ciaz is likely to get power from the 1.4 litre K series (K14B) petrol and 1.3 litre DDIS diesel motor. While the petrol engine is expected to generate an output of out 95 PS power and 130 Nm peak torque, the diesel model is likely to pump out 90 PS power and 200 Nm peak torque.
The engines are likely to come synchronised to manual and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). Though Ciaz was previously rumoured to get Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), it is unlikey now as it is considered to be "poor man's automatic." The car is likely to hit the market in September and the bookings of Ciaz will commence soon.
From the style quotient, the Ciaz is expected to include features like steering-mounted audio controls, reverse parking sensors, ABS, height adjustable driver's seat, rear AC vents, driver arm rest and electrically-adjustable mirrors and is likely to come in six variants: three petrol variants - VXi, VXi+, ZXi and three diesel variants - VDi, VDi+ and ZDi.
Once it hits the market, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be pinned to rival current front-runners Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento and going by the rumours the Ciaz is likely to get a price tag in the range of the ₹7.2 lakh - ₹10.5 lakh.
