Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest carmaker, has decided to pass on the benefit of reduction in the excise duty to customers by dropping the prices of the Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle) by Rs. 69,000. The Ciaz SHVS has been covered in the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) and it has got a benefit of nearly 50 percent reduction in the excise duty.
The excise duty of the mid-size sedan of Maruti has been reduced to 12.5 percent from the previous 24 percent. The prices of the Ciaz SHVS have now been updated in Delhi and have received a price cut in the range of Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 69,000, depending on the variants.
The Ciaz hybrid comes powered by a 1.3-litre Multijet engine with Integrated Starter Generator. It makes use of lithium ion battery that gets charged with the help of regenerative braking. The system converts the kinetic energy of the rolling wheels into electricity for charging the battery. The technology also helps to boost fuel efficiency of the Ciaz Hybrid and returns ARAI-rated mileage of 28.09 kmpl. The car features SmartPlay infotainment system and Idle Stop Start. The Ciaz hybrid also benefits from the FAME ((Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of hybrid and Electric vehicles) scheme launched by the government of India, which is offering incentives on electric and hybrid vehicles, up to Rs. 29,000.
