Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest passenger car maker, is set to launch its new Ciaz hybrid SHVS in India with an expected fuel efficiency of 28km per litre, according to a latest report.
The Economic Times report says that Maruti Ciaz SHVS is set to become the most fuel efficient car in India. The Ciaz mild hybrid SHVS, which is rumoured to replace the current diesel version of Ciaz sedan, is likely to be launched at a premium of Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000 over the current model.
The report also adds that Maruti, a name which is celebrated for the best mileage cars, is also working on the hybrid model of Ertiga which would make its entry into the market in October.
Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle) is expected to be available in three variants – VDi, ZDi, and ZDi+. Regarding the changes, the design and style of Ciaz will remain the same as the current model with minor changes like SHVS badging at the rear.
Under the hood too, Ciaz will still be getting power from the same 1.3-litre Multijet engine, but in the hybrid there will also be Integrated Starter Generator and battery.
As for the launch, the rumours around the web suggest that the deliveries of Ciaz SHVS are likely to begin by the end of August.
