Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, is reportedly readying the facelifted avatar of its Ciaz sedan. According to Oncar.in, the Ciaz facelift is likely to make its entry in the Indian market in 2017.

In the facelifted version, the Ciaz is likely to get visual modifications. Maruti is also expected to give the Ciaz a premium touch both inside and outside. It was reported earlier that the new Ciaz facelift would make its way to the Nexa premium showrooms of Maruti. Currently, Maruti sells two models – the Baleno premium hatchback and the S-Cross premium crossover — through Nexa. The Nexa will also welcome the Ignis small crossover and the Baleno Rs during this festive season this year.

Mechanically, the upgraded Ciaz is expected to remain the same as the current model. Currently, the Ciaz is powered by the 1,373cc petrol unit that develops 91bhp at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4,000rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission.

The petrol variant is also available with four-speed automatic transmission. The diesel unit comes equipped with a small hybrid system with 1,248cc displacement and develops 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

It has also been suggested that the premium sedan could also get Suzuki's M15 1.5 litre petrol engine in its new facelifted avatar. If this rings true, the Ciaz's new petrol engine will churn out 100bhp of power at 5,900rpm and 133Nm of torque at 4,100rpm. Maruti is also said to be looking to power its S-Cross premium offering with the same 1.5 litre engine.
