Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Bags 10,000 Bookings in India; Price, Feature Details

It looks like Maruti's new sedan Ciaz is on the right track, at least that is what the initial response of auto lovers in the country shows.

The Ciaz, which is just a few hours old in the Indian auto market has garnered 10,000 pre-launch bookings in the country.

Maruti, the country's largest car maker on Monday (6 October) at the launch of Ciaz said that the bookings for the vehicle crossed over 10,000, which is quite interesting considering the previous records of the company in the big car segment. The company also said that it is initially aiming to sell 60,000 to 70,000 units of Ciaz in the country.

"The initial plan was to sell about 60,000 to 70,000 units in the country. About 10,000 customers have already made their bookings of which 60 per cent are for diesel cars and 40 per cent for petrol vehicles", Ram Suresh Akella, Commercial Business Head (Southern Region), told Business Standard.

Maruti Ciaz, the rival of Honda City and Hyundai Verna has been priced in the range of ₹6.99 lakh - ₹9.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is offered in both diesel and petrol engine options.

The dealers of the company started accepting the bookings for Ciaz from 3 September and in India, the car is likely to have a minimal waiting period with the deliveries expected to begin soon.

Under the hood, the new Ciaz packs 1.3 litre Multijet diesel or 1.4 litre K Series petrol engine and is available in a total of ten trims- 6 petrol variants- V, V+, Z, Z(O), V+(AT) and Z AT and 4 diesel variants- V, V+, Z and Z(O).

The petrol Ciaz has a capacity to churn out 95 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm peak torque at 4,000 rpm and comes coupled to a five speed manual or four speed automatic transmission.

The diesel model of the car is tuned to churn out 90 PS at 4,000 rpm power and 200 Nm peak torque at 1,750 rpm and gets five speed manual gearbox.

The feature rich Ciaz comes fitted with tilt-adjustable steering wheel, projector headlamps, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable mirrors with integrated indicators, 2-Din music player with Aux and USB compatibility and fabric upholstery.
