Maruti Suzuki, a celebrated name in India, is getting ready to entice the Indian auto lovers with yet another offering -- the Celerio diesel.
The auto enthusiasts in the country have already heard lot about Maruti's upcoming diesel Celerio and its launch, but what is actually left to see is the engine in Celerio. Now, coming your way are the first-ever spy shots, by Gaadiwaadi, of Maruti Celerio fitted with diesel engine, consolidating our belief that the model is inching closer to its launch in the country.
The all-new indigenously developed 2 pot 800cc diesel motor is expected to churn out 35-40bhp and peak toque of 120-130Nm with a fuel efficiency of 30.1 kmpl. With the launch of new diesel Celerio, the model is also expected to become India's most fuel efficient car, outshining the current frontrunners Honda City (26 km/l) and Honda Amaze (25.8 km/l). Maruti's 800cc diesel engine will also power the upcoming LCV codenamed Y9T.
Since Celerio is already in the market, there is not much to talk about the design and style of the new variant. Celerio diesel will be just the same as the current model and will be pitted against Chevrolet Beat and the Ford Figo in India.
Although previous reports have indicated the launch of Celelrio diesel around April this year, a recent report of The Economic times said that the diesel model is likely to be delayed by 3-6 months.
Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014 in Noida, Celerio is the first car in India to come with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The existing model of Celerio is sold with a 998cc, three-cylinder, K10B engine, which can churn out a power of 67bhp at 6,000rpm and a torque of 9.1kgm at 3,500rpm. It is offered in six variants in the country -- two with automatic transmission and four with manual transmission.
