Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car-maker, is reportedly planning to give a facelift to the Celerio hatchback. According to a MotorOctane report, the Celerio facelift would make its market entry in 2017.
The Celerio, the first car in India to come with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), is likely to get cosmetic changes in its new avatar. According to the report, the Celerio facelift would feature a new front grille with chrome embellishment, new front and rear bumpers and new alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the changes are likely to be limited to a few additional features, such as a new entertainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, steering-mounted control and new upholstery.
Under the hood, the Celerio facelift is likely to come with the same 998cc petrol and 0.8L E08A diesel engines. The petrol model of Celerio can churn out a power of 67bhp at 6,000rpm and a torque of 90Nm at 3,500rpm. The Celerio diesel has the capacity to pump out 47bhp of power and 125Nm of peak torque. Other details of the Celerio facelift are scanty currently. The Celerio competes against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 in India.
It was also being reported that the Grand i10 is getting a facelift in the country soon. In the facelifted form, the Grand i10 is likely to get minor styling updates and a few new features. While it is expected to continue with the same engine as the existing models, the Grand i10 facelift is also likely to get AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
