It is perhaps a worst-kept secret that Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker is preparing to launch the diesel variant of its popular small car Celerio. The latest buzz on the Internet is that the new Celerio diesel model has hit the assembly line at the company's Manesar plant and could enter the market any time soon.

Rumour mills have been actively spinning the Celerio diesel model story for a while now and auto lovers in the country have already heard a lot about this model.

Now, folks at GaadWaadi have managed to climb up the fence of the company's Manesar plant to snap the spy shots of the Celerio diesel model; in the images, the model looks dispatch-ready.

Celerio diesel, a model billed as India's most fuel efficient car with a mileage figure of 30.1 kmpl, will be powered by the all-new indigenously developed 2 pot 800cc diesel motor .The engine is expected churn out 35-40bhp and peak toque of 120-130Nm and the latest is that the diesel Celerio will not get an AMT at the time of launch.

It was reported earlier that Celerio would make its entry by the end of April, and looking at the latest spy shots, we would not be surprised if the model makes an early April launch.

In terms of styling and features, Celerio diesel will stay true to the model heritage except from the diesel bagding.

Maruti is likely to price the diesel engine-equipped Celerio in the range of ₹5 to ₹5.7 lakh. When launched, the model will take on the likes of Chevrolet Beat and the Ford Figo in India.

TeamBHP reported that apart from the Celerio diesel model, Maruti Suzuki is also readying ZXi AMT variant and a taxi variant of Celerio for the Indian market. The Celerio Zxi AMT is speculated to have features like body coloured door handles and mirrors, electrically adjustable ORVMs, music system with CD, USB, AUX-in and Bluetooth connectivity, remote locking, steering mounted controls and tilt steering.
