The new Baleno premium hatchback from the country' largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, has been snapped in its undisguised avatar ahead of its expected launch in India in October.
Auto lovers in the country have already seen the new Baleno in various states through spy shots, leaked images and from the floors of auto shows and all that was left to be seen was its completely uncovered images. Now, the wait for that too is over.
Caught on camera by the motor buffs at Motoroids, the spotted prototype of Maruti Baleno was seen donned in autumn orange shade and in the images, the badging of the model was seen covered.
Judging by the images, it looks like Maruti Baleno was on its way to one of the Nexa showrooms for display. Maruti Baleno, the company's answer to Honda new Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20, will be the second car to be sold through the new premium Nexa dealership chains after S-Cross. The spy images show the body-coloured bumpers, ORVMs and door handles.
In terms of dimensions, Maruti Baleno measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,500 mm in height and 1,745 mm in width. The premium hatchback has a ground clearance of 180 mm. When launched, Baleno will be offered in four trims -- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha -- and they will get seven exterior body colour options: Granite grey, Solid fire red, Premium urban blue, Autumn orange, Metallic premium silver, Pearl arctic white and Ray blue.
Under the hood, from what we hear, Maruti Baleno will pack 1.2-liter VVT petrol and 1.3-liter DDiS diesel mills. While the petrol variant of Baleno can churn out 83bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, the diesel trim will be tuned to pump out 74bhp at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.
Some of the Nexa dealers have started accepting the bookings for the new Baleno and the model is expected to make its market debut on 26 October.
