India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is inching closer to the launch of the Baleno RS, a sportier version of the regular Baleno hatchback unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016.
Ahead of the launch, information in bits and pieces has been leaked online. The latest information is that the car will feature disc brakes on all four wheels.
Apart from the Abarth Punto, this will be the only affordable hatchback in the country to be equipped with all-wheel disc brakes, reports Autocar India. The Baleno RS will be equipped with ABS and dual airbags as standard.
As the company had confirmed earlier, the Baleno RS will be Maruti Suzuki's first car in India to be powered by the turbo-petrol engine christened as Boosterjet. The 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine in the Baleno RS will develop close to 111bhp and 170Nm of peak torque. It will be either mated to five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
The car will flaunt bi-xenon projector headlamps, auto headlamps and wipers, reverse camera, automatic climate control, and 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system with Apple CarPlay.
The Baleno RS will be visually different from the regular Baleno with sportier front and rear bumper. The rear bumper will feature dual-tone scheme with faux diffusers. Additionally, it will get side skirts and new diamond cut alloy wheels in dark shade.
The Baleno RS will be sold via Nexa premium dealerships only and prices will be slightly higher than the regular 1.2-litre petrol variants.
