Maruti Suzuki's premium hatchback Baleno is expected to break the cover in India on 26 October. Ahead of its official launch, the specifications and variant details of the model have been leaked on the web, giving auto aficionados a clear picture of what to expect with the arrival of Maruti's next big offering.

Maruti Baleno, when launched, will be the first premium hatchback to be sold through the company's Nexa dealership chain and could host four variants  -- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, reports Team BHP. According to the leaked details, Maruti Baleno will be offered in seven exterior body colour options -- Granite grey, Solid fire red, Premium urban blue, Autumn orange, Metallic premium silver, Pearl arctic white and Ray blue.

In terms of dimensions, Maruti Baleno, the model which will be pitted against Honda's new Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20, measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,500 mm in height and 1,745 mm in width. The model sits on a wheelbase of 2,520 mm and has a ground clearance of 180 mm.

In terms of engine line-up, Maruti Baleno will include 1.2-liter VVT petrol and 1.3-liter DDiS diesel mills. While the petrol variant of Baleno can churn out 83bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, the diesel trim will be tuned to pump out 74bhp at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.
