Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car-maker, continues testing the Baleno with Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine on the Indian roads. A fresh spy shot of the purported Baleno Boosterjet has started doing the rounds online, adding to the long list of the spy shots of the model that have been taken ahead of its official launch.
The latest image comes from a Team BHP member, who spotted the Baleno with Boosterjet in Mumbai. From the images, the spotted test mule seems to be the export model of the Baleno Boosterjet. Maruti will launch the Baleno with Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine in India as Baleno RS.
The Baleno Boosterjet will come powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine, which would churn out close to 110bhp of power and 170Nm of peak torque. Currently, the Baleno is powered by the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine tuned to develop 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, while the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel mill churns out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and the petrol engine is also available with CVT automatic gearbox. Offered in four trims and seven colours, Baleno is sold through Maruti's premium Nexa dealerships in India. Baleno is offered with safety features like dual airbags and ABS with EBD across all variants.
The Baleno RS will come packed with additional features like side skirts and new diamond cut alloy wheels, which would make it easy to differentiate it from the regular models. The new variant will also get a sportier front and rear bumpers. Other features expected to be included are reverse camera, automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system with Apple CarPlay. The Baleno RS will also be sold through Nexa premium dealership in India. It is the the first car in India to be powered by the Boosterjet of Suzuki.
