Maruti Suzuki cemented its position as the largest car manufacturer of the country in October with its four cars leading the best-selling passenger cars list released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The Alto hatchback continues to be the top seller with sale of 22,861 units in October 2015 against the 21,443 units in October last year. The compact sedan of the manufacturer, the Swift Dzire is the second best-selling model with 21,084 unit sale as compared to 16,542 units in the same month last year. Its hatchback sibling, the Swift is at the third spot. Maruti Suzuki sold 17,669 units of Swift against 14,310 units in October 2014. In the fourth place is the Maruti Suzuki WagonR hatchback with last month's sales of 14,734 units. Maruti Suzuki sold 14,310 units of the hatchback in the corresponding month last year.
The second largest car manufacturer of India, Hyundai's Grand i10 occupied the fifth spot in the list. The Korean company sold 9,612 units in October and jumped from the seventh to the fifth spot from last year. The Elite i20 landed in the sixth position with sale of 11,019 units in October 2015.
The best-selling SUV in India, the Mahindra Bolero is in the seventh spot in the list of best-selling passenger cars of October 2015. Mahindra and Mahindra sold 7,754 units of the Bolero last month. The second best-selling SUV, the Hyundai Creta is next in the list with 7,225 unit sales.
Honda sealed the remaining two spots in the top ten lists with the City sedan sold 7,022 units and Amaze sedan clocked 6,971 units in October 2015.
