If reports emerging on the web are true, Maruti's upcoming SUV codenamed YBA is likely to be named Vitara Brezza.
It is perhaps a worst-kept secret that Maruti – India's largest carmaker – is readying a new SUV for the Indian market.
Now, a new report in MotorOctane citing industry sources has claimed that the model is likely to be named Vitara Brezza in the country when launched next year. The reports adds that Maruti has already registered the name of the new model, which is expected to reach Indian shores next year in March at the Auto Expo 2016.
YBA SUV aka XBA is currently in its testing phase in the country and the model has been caught on camera many times. From what we know so far, YBA SUV has taken design cues from Suzuki iV-4 concept SUV, which was seen at the 2013 Frankfurt motorshow, and is likely to get features like angular tail lamps and a new smaller grille with horizontal slats. The model will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in the country and is likely to be 1.2-liter K-Series or 1.3-litre diesel engine.
To be offered in five variants – L, V, V+, Z and Z+ – the Maruti YBA is likely to accommodate features like keyless entry, push start/stop button and touchscreen infotainment system.
Expected to be a sub-four meter SUV, Maruti YBA is likely to be priced at about ₹5.5 lakh in India, and will be pitted against Ford's popular model EcoSport.
