The poster of Marudhanayagam, which is being showcased at the Cannes 2017, has sparked speculations that superstar Kamal Haasan has revived his dream project, which was shelved several years ago.
Some filmgoers spotted the poster of Marudhanayagam displayed just beside the poster of Sangamithra. A fimgoer named Salman (@salmaninay) shared the picture on his Twitter handle. He wrote: "#Marudhanayagam at Cannes?? " He shared more pictures and wrote: "You have no idea how much I want this project to happen. #Marudhanayagam @ikamalhaasan."
The Suriya Knight (@Vj_Nirmal_sfc) tweeted the poster of Marudhanayagam and wrote: "How many of u noticed #Marudhanayagam poster in #Cannes2017 beside of #sangamithra @ikamalhaasan looks ravishing waiting official update ☺☺"

Marudhanayagam is a period film that revolves around the life of the 18th-century warrior, Mohammad Yusuf Khan. It was supposed to be the most expensive film ever made in India before Baahubali and Kamal Haasan had even brought the Queen of England for the launch of the movie, which was expected to be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English.
The shooting of Marudhanayagam was kick-started in 1997 and Kamal Haasan canned some scenes for the film. Since Kamal Haasan could not pool money for its production, the movie was thought to be shelved. Years back it was also speculated that the actor was looking for financiers to restart the project.
Early this year, it was rumoured that Kamal Haasan would revive Marudhanayagam and Ayngaran International and Lyca International would bankroll it. The speculations had started doing rounds after Ayngaran International posted a picture of on January 15, 2017. Now, the poster of the film displayed at the Cannes has strengthened the rumours.
Many audience wants Kamal Haasan to revive the film. Arun Ilamvazhuthi (@I_vazhuthi) tweeted: "@LycaProductions note an eye on this and marudhanayagam @ikamalhaasan in making a dream to reality on screen."
