Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, is reportedly readying a new Alto 800 for the Indian market, which would make its debut in December, a report said.
The new Maruti Alto 800 will be more fuel-efficient than the current model, a report in Auto Car Professional said. Interestingly, a diesel version of Alto 800 is likely to join the line-up.
Currently, Maruti Alto 800 is offered in petrol and CNG versions and if the latest rumour of diesel Alto 800 rings true, the model will be getting the company's new diesel 798cc, 2-cylinder engine, which does the duty in Celerio diesel.
The Celerio diesel engine has the capacity to churn out 47.6 PS and 125 Nm of torque and offers a fuel efficiency of 27.62 kmpl.
The engine, when it comes to the new Alto 800, would be able to deliver a better fuel efficiency than in Celerio.
The current Alto 800 petrol is tuned to deliver a mileage of ARAI-rated 22.74 kmpl and 30.46 km/kg in CNG.
Other details about the new Alto 800 are not known at this point of time, however, there are also reports that the upcoming Alto 800 could also get AMT.
