American wrestler Mark William Calaway, who is popular as The Undertaker, celebrates his 50th birthday on Tuesday, 24 March.
Born in Houston, Texas, as the youngest child of late Frank Compton Calaway and Betty Catherine Truby, he is of Native American and Irish descent.
Calaway began his journey in the world of wrestling with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) when he was 19 years old and lost his first match against Bruiser Brody.
He joined World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) in 1990 and is the longest-tenured performer in it. Before joining the firm, he was part of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and at that time his ring name was "Mean" Mark Callous.
During his tenure as a wrestler, he served five years in United States federal prison for killing two men in a fight. American wrestling commentator Jim Ross once stated that Calaway has a fondness for music of Ozzy Osbourne and pet snakes.
His achievements in the field of wrestling includes one-time USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion, three-time World Heavyweight Champion and four-time WWF/E Champion.
In the wrestling world, The Undertaker is also known as Kane the Undertaker, Punisher Dice Morgan, Texas Red, The American Badass, The Commando, The Master of Pain, The Phenom and The Punisher.
Besides wrestling, he has proved his excellence in basketball, boxing and mixed martial arts. The Undertaker was also part of several movies and television shows, including "Suburban Commando", "Poltergeist: The Legacy", "Downtown" and "Celebrity Deathmatch". He has even appeared on Canadian sports show called "Off the Record with Michael Landsberg" in 2001.
He has been married thrice -- Jodi Lynn (1989-1999), Sara (2000-2007) and former wrestler Michelle McCool in 2010 -- and has four children, a son and three daughters, namely Gunner Vincent, Chasey, Gracie and Kaia Faith Calaway.
Some of his nicknames are Big Evil, The Deadman, The Demon of Death Valley, The Lord of Darkness, The Master of Mind Games, The Last Outlaw and The Cornerstone of the WWF/E.
