Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar-starrer "Sairat" has set a new benchmark for Marathi films with its box office collection. After becoming the biggest Marathi film grosser in India, "Sairat" is now nearing the Rs. 50 crore mark.
This will be the first time a Marathi film will take its box office earnings beyond Rs. 50 crore. "Sairat" had a competition with Bollywood's "Baaghi" movie at the box office and also, the censor copy was leaked online before the film's release, but despite all the odds, the film managed to earn a good amount.
Till May 11, the film has minted Rs. 47 crore and now it is all set to earn Rs. 50 crore, Catch News reported. "Sairat" is also the highest grosser Marathi film, beating the records of films that starred Nana Patekar and Riteish Deshmukh.

"Sairat" is a romantic film directed by Nagraj Manjule of "Fandry" movie fame. The film features Rinku and Akash in the lead roles. The romantic film was released on April 29 and has been receiving a lot of critical acclaim for its storyline and the actors' performances. Recently, Bollywood celebrities, including Aamir Khan, Ritiesh and Genelia D'Souza, tweeted praising the film.
