Aadhi and Nikki Galrani, who had earlier worked in Yagavarayinum Naa Kaaka, have teamed up again in Maragadha Naanayam. It is a fantasy-horror film, written and directed by ARK Saravanan, a former associate of Ram Kumar of Mundasupatti fame.
Maragadha Naanayam is filled with a lot of talented artists that include Anandaraj, Ramdoss, Mime Gopi, Kaali Venkat, MS Baskar and Kota Srinivasa Rao. Dhibu Ninan Thomas has composed music, and Kottai Aanda Arasan, Nee Kavithaigala and Usiredukkum Kootam songs have been received well by the audience.
Story:
Maragadha Naanayam is centred around five characters and set across three periods. The story is inspired by a real-life incident and the director has added necessary elements to make it an entertaining film without the usual clichéd hero-heroine characters. It tells the tale of two gangs in search of a treasure.
To pay off a debt of Rs 40 lakh, Senguttavan (Aadhi) comes to Chennai and he finds smuggling to be the easiest way to make quick bucks. Ramdoss (Munishkanth) and Elango (Daniel) become his partners in crime. When the trio plans to do something big, a Chinese meets them to find a precious stone called 'Maragadha Naanayam' and offers them Rs 10 crore.
There is a past to the gem and a horror story is associated with it. What happens to them once they start their journey to find the stone forms the interesting part of the story.

#MaragadhaNaanayam is funny at places. The story isn't uninteresting as such, but there are few unwanted kiddish moments to spoil the show.
#MaragadhaNaanayam has the same old play of emotions with a group of friendly ghosts & our protagonists. Tried and tested, done and dusted.
#MaragadhaNaanayam is a pretty basic horror heist comedy. Nothing out of the ordinary. Bearable enough if you admire the genre.
