That dream Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight might just happen after all, after the Filipino confirmed the two camps were in talks over a fight for next year.
Pacquiao vs Mayweather has been talked about for years and years, but neither camp has been able to come to an agreement over a mega fight, which would be the most lucrative in the sport's history.
Now that epic bout looks like it just might be possible, with two of the greatest fighters in the modern era set to stand toe to toe in the ring come 2015....hopefully.
"There are serious negotiations with the Mayweather camp and my promoter," Pacquiao said while promoting his November fight with Chris Algieri.
"Probably for next year," added the 35-year-old when asked if the fight would happen next May.
A few days back, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum had revealed the possibility of the big fight, saying it was even possible that two of the most high-profile boxers in the world could be involved in two bouts against each other next year.
"Both [TV] networks want this to happen," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "All signs seem to point to a first fight early next year
"A second fight in the autumn would provide a different cash split because the winner of the first would claim the higher percentage. As each of them believes he would win, that provides an extra incentive."
Mayweather is set to fight Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas next Saturday, and the possibility of a matchup against Pacquiao was put in doubt by the American recently when he suggested, for the fight to happen, the Filipino would have to sign to his Mayweather Productions.
