Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (April 30) addressed the country through his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio programme, which was aired in Hindi at 11 am on All India Radio and Doordarshan.

"I am worried because technology is there to minimise distances but now even a family of 6 sitting together in one room is in their own individual technological world," says PM Modi.
He adds: "Dream to do great is good but it should not impair the 'human element'. We should not deviate from human values."

He adds: "Take a train ride during the vacations and talk to people. Learn their experiences, about their lives. Go for summer camps. Pick up your football or volleyball and go outside to play in the evenings. Play and interact with students from under-privileged backgrounds. I guarantee you'll make new and nice friends."
He also asks whether anyone has ever wanted to try and ride an auto-rickshaw instead of learning how to drive a car.

11:14 am IST: PM Modi, in his programme, urges parents to send their kids out to learn life skills this summer. "These holidays, make it about new experiences, go out of your comfort zone... Pursue sports in the holidays. Also go play with children of nearby area," says the PM.

This was the 31st episode of the monthly programme, which was streamed live on YouTube channels of the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Doordarshan News or DD News. The programme will be broadcast by Akashvani in regional languages immediately after the initial broadcast in Hindi. The regional language versions of the programme will be aired again at 8 pm on Sunday.
PM Modi had shared his vision of a New India in his last Mann Ki Baat episode held in March. The promise of a New India was interpreted in several ways. Some believed that PM Modi was looking further than the Lok Sabha polls of 2019 while others thought it was an indication towards the government's pro-poor policies.
PM Modi, through his Narendra Modi app, had appealed to citizens to take a pledge in building a New India by 2022 – the year in which the nation completes 75 years of Independence.
In his last Mann Ki Baat address, the prime minister had also addressed the issue of depression and food wastage in the country besides speaking about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and the Digital India campaign. PM Modi had also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru for their fight for freedom from British rule.
