The latest movie narrates the challenges faces by volleyball coach Vandana, who trains a group of inmates at the Poojapura Central Jail. It is the first time a Malayalam movie is being made based on the team sport of volleyball. The sports-centric film, which is being produced under the banner of Backwater studios by Jayalal Menon and Anil Biswas, has locked horns at the Kerala box office with the comedy entertainer, "Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum," which stars Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya and Amala Paul.

One of the best movies of Deepu Karunakaran...Not any exaggeration as in majority of the sports oriented movies...Manju Warrier lived with thekarinkunnam sixes...Baiju chetan and Sudheer Karaman well deserves a honour for their spectacular performance.Anoop Menon simply stole the show many a time.Kevin Maina's "pongala" and Maniyan Pillai chetan's slang made the crowd burst out a belly laugh.Sudev Nair, Padmarajan Rateesh and Gregory definitely needs to be pampered with a pat...Hats off to you Karinkunnam sixes..Thoroughly enjoyed the movie..It's worth a watch

The first half ends with the challenges faced by Vandana in training the jail inmates. The film goes through an usual routine of sports movie in the second half. You should watch Karinkunnam Sixes and Sultan on the same day - you will see the bloody difference of film making.

'Karinkunnam Sixes' aka K6 - A 'Smash'ing Hit from Deepu Karunakaran & Co.
'K6' unfolds through Eby(Anoop Menon) and Vandana(Manju Warrier), a couple of passionate volleyball lovers, their dream team playing under the name 'Karinkunnam Sixes' and their travails to field their team in the Kerala Volleyball League, the commercialised version of the game. Challenges are aplenty and several stumbles later, Vandana is left alone to evolve their dream team, strangely, from a group of incoherent prisoners.
Can 'Karinkunnam Sixes' be moulded into a winning unit?My friend, Vishnu Vijayakumar, assistant director in 'K6' had earlier assured me that irrespective of the eventual outcome, he was pretty confident, 'K6' will be at the very least, a thrilling fare, start to end. And that it surely did enough to worth a watch, and lot more than my expectations, I should underline.
Deepu Karunakaran succeeds in setting a pace for the script that fits the adrenaline rush and intensity that defines a game of volleyball. The script by Arunlal Ramachandran aptly captures the energy and passion that makes the game, explores the highs and lows, twists and turns, good and ugly sides of the game and throws them around intelligently, in a manner that throughout the around two and half hour long duration, there is never a dull moment you are disengaged. Rahul Raj's background complements the adrenaline pumping mood of K6. I am told the climactic stages of the movie, the volleyball game was shot like a live match and that's exactly how it reflected on screen. K6 has a long cast - Anoop Menon, Manju Warrier, Babu Antony, Baiju, Sudheer Karamana, Nandhu and Jacob Gregory and a couple of 'surprise appearances', but its Suraj Venjaramoodu who has chosen to 'surprise' us again after 'Action Hero Biju' with another short and impactful performance.
'Karinkunnam Sixes' is a gripping sports drama, and should exceed expectations of all audience, youth and family audience alike. It is sure to be a treat especially for the sports lovers among you, who can appreciate the thrills and emotions of sports, as there are such 'moments' in plenty.
