An improvised explosive device (IED) went off close to the Manipur governor's house in Imphal on Friday.
No casualties have been reported in the blast so far, ANI news agency reported.
The blast occurred early on Friday morning in a house near the governor's residence.
Manipur has been seeing an increase in insurgent activities. A deadly ambush attack on an army convoy in Chandel district earlier this month left 18 armymen dead.
