Earlier, several reports had suggested that Mammootty, who played a pivotal role in Mani Ratnam's "Thalapathi", will play the lead role in Mani Ratnam's flick. However, reports later claimed the story was just a rumour.

Meanwhile, Dulquer has become a sensation with his performance and looks in "OK Kanmani".
When it comes to the other lead actor of the movie, Karthi, he begun his career as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam in his Tamil-Hindi thriller film "Aayutha Ezhuthu". Apparently, Karthi was offered to play a role in the 2004 hit movie, but denied and chose to be part of the directorial team.
Karthi, who had a series of flops, had recently made a huge comeback with his performances in "Komban" and "Madras".
With regard to the lead actress of the upcoming movie, rumours are rife that Mani Ratnam has roped in Shruthi Haasan. Sources have also confirmed that the Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman will compose music for the new multi-starrer film.
