The first look of Mani Ratnam and Karthi's "Kaatru Veliyidai" was released on Thursday, July 7. The poster featuring the lead stars was unveiled without much hype on social networking sites.
Aditi Rao Hydari of Bollywood movie "Wazir" fame plays the female lead in the movie. The film has AR Rahman's music, Ravi Varman's cinematography and Sreekar Prasad's editing. Sharmishta Roy is the art director of the film and Vairamuthu will pen lyrics for the flick, which has RJ Balaji in an important role.
The first look gives an impression of it being a romantic flick, the genre which is considered to be Mani Ratnam's forte. The title is reportedly inspired by a phrase from a Maha Kavi Bharathi's poetry.
Coming to Aditi Rao Hydari, she had made her Tamil debut in "Sringaram." But the movie had failed to keep the cash registers ringing at the box office. The actress now hopes to make it big with "Kaatru Veliyidai."
The first schedule of the shooting will kick-start on Friday, July 8. It will be a 40-day schedule shot in Ooty. The makers aim to release the film by the end of this year for which the team has to work round the clock.
