Mani Ratnam has teamed up with leading firm Sri Thenandal Films, which has acquired the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of the film even before it hit the floors. The upcoming flick stars Karthi and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles.
Sri Thenandal Films confirmed the news on Twitter by posting, "We are very happy to associate with Dir #Maniratnam & @MadrasTalkies_ in his next Project starring Karthi!" However, many believed that it is going to produce the multilingual movie. Reacting to it, the company added, "@rameshlaus @MadrasTalkies_ We will be taking care of Tamil Nadu distribution. Not production.. :). [sic]"
Mani Ratnam's home production Madras Talkies is believed to be bankrolling the untitled flick. With the announcement, the confusion around the director's next movie has also been cleared. In the recent months, there were different reports on his project. While some had claimed that he would be directing a Kannada film, others said he would join hands with Atharvaa.
The upcoming film is in the pre-production stages and the makers have planned to start the regular shooting from September. The director has already signed his favourite AR Rahman to score the music and Ravivaraman will be the cinematographer.
It will reportedly be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
After delivering a few flops, Mani Ratnam returned to good form with his last year's hit movie "Ok Kanmani," starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen.
Karthi's next Project
Karthi is basking in the success of his latest movie "Thozha," which has been simultaneously made in Telugu as "Oopiri." The Tollywood version has become a bigger hit than the Kollywood version. The actor is now busy shooting his next film "Kashmora." It is a horror film, which has Nayantara and Sri Divya in the female leads.
