Manchester United finally look like they will get their man, after former Juventus player Nicola Amoruso revealed he expects Arturo Vidal to leave the Italian giants.
Vidal has been linked with a move to Manchester United for quite a while now, and looked destined to move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, before the transfer fell through.
However, Vidal's campaign with Juventus has not gone too well this season, with the Chilean also embroiled in some off-field issues.
That has led to reports that Vidal will make a move away from Juventus during the January transfer window, with Manchester United looking like the likely destination, despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
Vidal was a part of the Juventus team which crashed to a 1-0 defeat at Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and according to Amoruso, currently thr sporting director at Palermo, it could be his last few European matches in a Juve shirt.
"It seems to me that there will soon be a split between Vidal and Juventus," Amoruso told Tuttomercatoweb.
"He is a player of value, but he needs to go and compete in other leagues."
While the statement does not say that Manchester United are going to be Vidal's next destination, it does look likely.
While Real Madrid have also apparently intimated they would like to move for Vidal with a possible swap deal involving Sami Khedira also reported, Manchester United have shown a bigger interest and Louis Van Gaal will be keen to persuade Vidal to switch to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
Manchester United need a solid midfielder in the centre of the park to give them that extra push, and Vidal could form a good partnership with defensive midfielder Daley Blind.
Much will depend on how much Juventus ask for Vidal, if those statements from Amoruso do turn out to be true, and if Manchester United, Real Madrid or other interested parties are willing to match those demands.
One thing is for sure, though – if Vidal does move to Manchester United, he will be a big hit at Old Trafford, such is the midfielder's quality.
