Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €25 million bid for Ajax goal-keeper Jasper Cillessen as they look for a new shot-stopper, with David De Gea's future at Old Trafford becoming more and more uncertain with each passing day.
De Gea, who has a year left on his current contract, has been excellent for the Red Devils this season, with his performances resulting in him getting nominated for the PFA and FWA Footballer of the Year Awards and the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
Due to this reason, United are believed to be very keen on offering him a new contract.
However, the Spaniard is still reluctant to sign a new deal at Old Trafford despite United reportedly offering him a new mega deal worth £200,000-a-week.
This is because he is believed to be in a dilemma due to Real Madrid reportedly targeting him as a replacement for the ageing Iker Casillas.
While United are very eager to keep De Gea, they have reportedly already started looking as possible candidates to replace the Spaniard if he eventually decides to leave this summer.
The Red Devils are already being linked to the likes of Tottenham's Hugo Lloris and Stoke City's Asmir Begovic, but according to the Daily Star, Ajax's Cillessen is the man that van Gaal wants if De Gea leaves this summer.
United are confident they can land the goal-keeper due to van Gaal having a good relationship with the 26-year-old when he was the head coach of the Netherlands.
The Red Devils are being linked with a €25 million move for the Dutch goal-keeper, but Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has warned United by saying that Cillessen is not for sale even at that price.
"Jasper is not for sale, not even for €25m," Overmars told De Telegraaf, adding that the Red Devils have not made a formal approach for the goal-keeper.
So United may have to make a much better bid than €25 million if they want to land Cillessen this summer.
