One of the best players in the Serie A this season, one who has not quite grabbed the headlines in the rest of Europe as much as some of the others, is Felipe Anderson of Lazio, and Manchester United are ready to make him their player next season with a massive offer, which leaves every other interested club firmly second best.
Anderson has been outstanding since signing for Lazio a couple of season back, with this campaign, in particular, showing just how good a player he is, and can be. The Brazilian attacking midfielder has 11 goals and seven assists to his name, which has naturally led to the people in the know keeping a close eye.
The 22-year-old has been linked with several English Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City, but it is Manchester United who are set to make the decisive step with a massive bid of €50 million (around £36 million), according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.
That might seem like a lot for a player yet to make his debut for the Brazil senior team, but there is little doubt about his talent. When on form, he can make any defence seem inept, and Anderson will eventually sign for a powerhouse club.
"We've played together at U-20 level for Brazil and he was amazing," Oscar was quoted as saying by Mirror last month when asked about a potential move to Chelsea. "He can become even better and great players are always welcome at Chelsea. He could really be useful here."
Louis Van Gaal is keen to shake up his attacking options at Manchester United, and while Felipe Anderson, who, not too long ago, signed a new deal at Lazio until 2020, is not a proven player like Gareth Bale, he could form a potent partnership with another new recruit in Memphis Depay.
Meanwhile, Depay reportedly completed his medical as the official confirmation of the move draws ever closer.
