This summer transfer window has become seemingly frustrating for Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal as he has failed to secure most of his targets.
United are reportedly preparing an audacious bid of £60 million for Bayern Munich star forward Thomas Muller, reported The Telegraph. Muller is looked upon as a probable replacement for Robin van Persie who is set to leave Old Trafford in this transfer window.
The Red Devils came close to sign a number of players, but they went on to join other clubs in the process. So far they have only managed to secure the signing of Memphis Depay who will be unveiled at a press conference on Friday.
Earlier, Fenerbahce confirmed that they have opened talks with United over a possible transfer of the Dutch striker Van Persie. This would mean that the United boss will be left with Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as the striking options at the club in the upcoming season, if only they fail to sign any of their targets for the forward line.
United have been chasing Muller for the last three transfer windows as Van Gaal is believed to be a huge admirer of this German International forward.
Muller had previously told the reporters, "When you get an offer you consider it automatically. A request by a big club is an honour and appreciation that your output was good."
But with numerous transfer rumours this summer, Muller adds to it.
On the other hand, Van Persie reportedly has stated that he felt betrayed at the Old Trafford and thus he is looking forward to leave the club. Meanwhile, the David de Gea transfer saga has not been resolved yet. It looks like it will be stretched till the last day of the summer transfer window.
