Highly-rated German youngster Leroy Sane has attracted a lot of interest from Manchester United, and the Red Devils could be tempted to bid for the attacking midfielder and bring him to the Theatre of Dreams next year.
However, their arch-rivals Liverpool wouldn't let the transfer, if it ultimately takes place, happen so smoothly. According to The Sun, the Reds are also linked with the 19-year-old Schalke star.
Premier League giants United are looking at youth for the long road ahead, and the big-money spent on French teenager Anthony Martial on the transfer deadline day this summer is a testament to that approach.
The report has stated that one of United's German scouts, Peter Braun has been closely keeping tabs on Sane for some weeks now during Schalke's matches in the Bundesliga. The youngster's pace and dribbling abilities remain the key features of his play.
Sane, who has a price tag of around £12 million, made his international debut with the Germany senior team last week as 'Die Mannschaft' took on France at the Stade de France, on a night that saw 129 people die in a series of terrorist attacks in the French capital.
The 19-year-old has 26 appearances so far in his career in Bundesliga, and has got on the scoresheet seven times. He also has four assists. Sane's contract at Schalke expires in the summer of 2019, and it is highly probable that he could be set for a move to Old Trafford if he is made a lucrative offer.
However, United won't find it too easy to lure the player, considering the interest from Liverpool. Highly-rated German coach Jurgen Klopp is currently at the helm at Anfield, and the prospect of joining hands with the former Borussia Dortmund manager could be perfect for Sane.
The lightning-footed youngster is set to be in action as Schalke take on Bayern Munich in a Bundesliga game on Saturday, 21 November.
