With Angel Di Maria closing in on a move to PSG, the inevitable Nicolas Gaitan to Manchester United transfer rumours have been ignited again, with the Argentinian reportedly on his way to Old Trafford as a replacement for his compatriot.
Gaitan has been linked with Manchester United in quite a few transfer windows now, with various reports suggesting there is interest, the deal is close, and the transfer is done, depending on what and when you read.
However, with Di Maria reportedly telling Manchester United he wants to leave and PSG seemingly confident of completing the transfer, there is a place for Louis Van Gaal to fill.
Pedro Rodriguez looked like being that Di Maria replacement option, but according to the Metro, it is Gaitan.
The playmaker is apparently sure he is set to complete a move to Old Trafford, with Manchester United reportedly agreeing a fee of around £21million with Benfica.
Gaitan will certainly add a bit more pace and verve that Van Gaal has been asking for, with the Argentine capable of the spectacular.
However, he is still far from a proven quantity, even at 27, having never played outside the Portuguese league in Europe.
Money, though, is no object for Manchester United, and if Van Gaal believes Gaitan is the better option to Pedro, then the transfer could very well happen soon.
Much, of course, will depend on when or if Di Maria finally completes his move to PSG. The two clubs are haggling over a fee at the moment, with Manchester United rejecting the French club's opening bid of £28.5m, according to the Guardian.
It does seem like they will eventually agree on a fee, however, and when that does happen and Di Maria does complete his transfer to the Parc des Princes, Manchester United will, no doubt, want to move quickly in the transfer market to complete the signing of the former Real Madrid player's replacement, be that Pedro, Gaitan or someone else.
