Manchester United are closing in on signing the Italian defender Matteo Darmian. The Torino player was spotted at the Turin airport boarding a flight to England. He is reportedly going have to have his medical at the Old Trafford soon.
United boss Louis Van Gaal has only managed to rope in Memphis Depay from PSV in this ongoing summer transfer window. Apart from that, they have failed to secure any other signings. However, Van Gaal has a number of players on his target list. Darmian is probably one of them and he is likely to be seen donning the United jersey in the upcoming season.
Darmian has told the Sky Sports Italia that it was his dream to play at the theatre of dreams and he is looking forward to be a part of a club like Manchester United.
"I'm very excited, we'll face this new adventure. It's a dream, I'm superstitious so I won't say anything until the signatures, let's wait. I say thank you to Torino and their fans who have been great these years," said the Italian defender.
Torino manager Giampiero Ventura has wished Darmian good luck for his future adventure at the Old Trafford. The player is expected to complete a £12 million move to Manchester United soon.
"Matteo Darmian will play for Manchester United. It's a dream for him. It's true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United. Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamt of playing in the Champions League, so now that dream will be realised," Ventura said.
Gianluca di Marzio posted a photo from his official Twitter handle where Darmian is seen to be boarding a flight to England from Turin airport.
