Jose Mourinho is hell-bent on snatching the English Premier League title from Manchester City this season, and for that, he is set to smash the British transfer records again. Sensational reports have surfaced that Manchester United are looking at making the most expensive signing ever in the history of the club this January.
Paul Pogba, who signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2016 for £89.3 million, may no more remain the biggest signing in the British transfer history.
Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be roped in by the Premier League giants for a record £95 million.
Reports have claimed that Mourinho had previously sent scouts to follow the highly-rated Serbian star and the scout reports have managed to impress the former Real Madrid boss. While the arrival of Mesut Ozil to Old Trafford is heavily rumoured this January, the recent reports surrounding Savic has turned out to be pretty sensational.
Lazio signed the midfielder for £16m from Belgian side Genk in 2015.
Savic, 22, has made 14 appearances in the Serie A this season so far, scoring thrice and assisting once.
Lazio's sporting director Igli Tare has also confirmed that their club star is attracting a lot of interest from the heavyweights of Europe, which is claimed to be Manchester City and Juventus, besides United.
"We have received offers from him, some of which are way over £60million," said Tare. "However, none have come from Juventus. He signed a new contract six months ago and this means he's happy here."
Savic's current contract with Napoli expires on June 30, 2022.
