Tottenham played some outstanding football in their final game at White Hart Lane to beat Manchester United 2-1 on Sunday. They have closed a glorious chapter of WHL in fantastic style, beating United and more importantly, without losing a single game this season at home in the Premier League. Wembley will be Spurs' home for next season as the new stadium will be built in the meanwhile.

Goals from Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane gave them a 2-1 win as Wayne Rooney got a goal back for Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino's men dominated the possession early on and put lots of pressure on the Manchester United defence. That pressure finally paid off in the sixth minute. Ben Davis sent in a beautiful cross into the Manchester United box and Wanyama was left free and he headed the ball past David De Gea to give Spurs the lead.

The game slowed down a bit after that early goal from Wanyama. This gave a chance for Jose Mourinho's players to settle and that resulted in their first chance of the game. In the 18th minute, Rooney found Anthony Martial who tried to curl the ball into the far post but the Frenchman's shot was just wide.

Tottenham came right back with a response after that United chance. Heung Min Son managed to get past the United defence but his shot was straight at De Gea and the rebound fell to Christian Eriksen but his shot was just too wide from goal.

Chances kept coming for Tottenham as the game moved on. In the 22nd minute Eriksen sent a delightful cross to near post and Harry Kane got free from his marker but his header went just over the goal. Three minutes later Eriksen once again drilled a ball inside the Manchester United box and after a deflection of De Gea, Dele Alli was all set to shoot, but Eric Bailly cleared the ball in time.

Spurs could have doubled their lead right before half time as Kane managed to get free in the Manchester United box and he shot at the near post but De Gea once again denied Tottenham their second goal.

It was all Tottenham in the first half with Manchester United offering no real threat to the Tottenham defence. It was Spurs' 1-0, going into the first break.

Tottenham started the second half as they did the first and three minutes later it resulted in their second goal. Eriksen, just like he did in the first half, once again sent a superb cross in and Kane juts got the slightest of touches and diverted the ball past De Gea to make it 2-0.

Kane could have got his second goal of the match five minutes later as the England international tried to bend it into the bottom corner but his left footed shot did not have enough bend on it.

Manchester United's first chance of the second half came in the 59th minute and it fell for Jesse Lingard right before he got substituted. Lingard combined well with Martial and that opened up a chance for him but his shot was wide of the post.

The Red Devils got another chance five minutes later as Martial unleashed a powerful shot but his shot was inches past the post. Mourinho's men started to see a lot more of the ball in the second half and all their passing finally paid off as captain Rooney got them back into the game.

Martial did well to beat Kieran Trippier and delivered a low cross into the Tottenham box and Rooney was the first to react as he got the ball past Lloris to make it 2-1.

After Rooney got Manchester United back into the game, the Red Devils failed to build on that as Tottenham once again started to put pressure on the United back line. The visitors could have conceded a third goal but Phil Jones cleared Alli's shot off the line to keep it at 2-1.

With that win Tottenham confirmed their second place finish in the Premier League, an improvement on their third place finish from last season.

As for Manchester United, Mourinho and his players have no chance of finishing in the top four now and have to defeat Ajax in the finals of the Europa League to qualify of the Champions League next season.
