A man from Chenna slit the throat of her wife with a knife at the premises of her office before attempting suicide on Tuesday evening. Her condition is said to be critical.
The police said that the man attacked his wife at the premises of the software company she works, which is far from the city. The man entered the premises of the company after telling the security personnel that he had come to meet his wife.
The man then attacked his wife with a knife and then tried to kill self before being stopped by the victim's colleagues and security personnel. They were rushed to the city hospital where their condition was reported to be critical.
According to the police, the man took the extreme step as he was upset after the victim sought divorce from him. They married ten years ago when they were colleagues.
"The man appears to have come prepared with a pocket knife to attack her. Both had an argument at the office earlier and then he has slit her. We don't know what he's now but when they got married he used to be a driver," The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar Sudhakar told NDTV.
The police have booked the attacker with attempt to murder.
