Demi Moore, for lack of words, is in 'absolute shock' over the death of Edenilson Steven Valle, a member of her staff who was found dead in the backyard pool at her Los Angeles Residence on Sunday morning. The actress, who is not in the country, described the incident as an 'unthinkable tragedy' and sympathised with Valle's family and friends in their time of grief.
"The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man's family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time," the 52-year-old said in a statement released by her representative, Heidi Lopez.
Reports suggest that Valle was part of a small party organized by the actress' assistants. Ariel pictures of the pool reveal inflatable rings and floats, suggesting an atmosphere of fun that turned tragic for those present.
After a frantic 911 call, police and paramedics visited the scene at 5.15am. The Los Angeles County coroner, Lt. Fred Corral said that Valle was found floating at the back end of the pool. The paramedics' team started CPR but Valle was pronounced dead minutes later, at 5.30am.
Family and friends of the deceased have told the coroner that Valle didn't know how to swim. It appears that he must have slipped and fallen into the pool. Corral said that Valle was missing for 10-15 minutes before they found him floating in the pool.
The police have found limited amount of alcohol in the deceased's body and said that they don't suspect any foul play. They are awaiting a detailed toxicology report.
Ashton Kutcher's ex, Moore's canyonside residence has been the centre of numerous pool parties since the actress' daughters Tallulah and Scout have been staying with her for the past couple of weeks. Neighbours told TMZ that Moore's children have been partying "everyday, day and night."
The police are investigating.
