In a carefully thought out prank, Hu Seng, a playful young man from China's southwestern city Chongqing wanted to surprise his girlfriend by presenting her something unique.
He was game for taking all the risks, even at the stake of his own life and couldn't think of anything better but posting himself to her.
Seng decided to surprise his ladylove by couriering himself to her workplace.
He squeezed his full-grown body into a cardboard box and asked a friend to wrap it and get it delivered it to girlfriend Li Wang's address through a courier service agency.
He was under the impression that the expected time for delivery within the city wouldn't exceed half-an-hour or so, and hence didn't take any precaution in case of delay.
The delivery was delayed by three hours due to a mix-up of addresses and Seng was almost suffocated to death till the time the courier reached Wang's office, where their common friend was waiting to capture the moment of surprise.
Trapped inside a small box, Seng had already passed out since there was no hole in the box for him to breath.
Neither did he shout out for help all this while, nor was he successful in making an air-hole in the box as the cardboard was very thick to be pierced easily and by shouting he didn't want to spoil the surprise.
"I didn't realize it would take so long," Seng told Daily Mail, who reported the incident.
"I tried to make a hole in the cardboard but it was too thick and I didn't want to spoil the surprise by shouting," he said.
Finally, he had to be taken to the hospital and was treated by the paramedics.
Even the courier agency wasn't aware that there was a person inside the box.
"If he'd told us what he was doing at the start we would not have taken the parcel," a spokesman of the courier agency said. "Even when we accept animals they have to go in special containers so they can breathe."
