A man was arrested from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh by Tamil Nadu police for allegedly creating paedophilic pages on Facebook. Yadava Manikanta, 27, is said to be the admin of many such groups, which post morphed images of kids.
A case has been registered against Yadava under provisions of the Information Technology Act and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offence) Act.
The accused was reportedly running a grocery shop in Tirupati and investigators have seized his mobile phones and laptops, which he used for the crime.
Recently, there were reports about increasing number of paedophilia pages on social media, where photos of young girls are used with a sexual motive.
Upon investigation, such pages were found to have thousands of followers, who post vulgar comments on the photos.
Paedophilia is a psychiatric disorder, in which adults get sexually attracted to children below 11 years.
Just last month, acting on the complaint raised by a Kerala couple, Facebook had removed another page, which had many paedophilic contents in it.
