Malayalam actress Mamta Mohandas has apologised for wrongly mentioning singer Kavalam Sreekumar's name while paying condolences to his father and popular dramatist Kavalam Narayana Panicker, who died on Sunday, June 26.
"Kindly accept my apology abt t tweet on t demise of #kavalam. It had only been 30secs since my tweet n I took it down ASAP #blunder [sic]," the actress said after she fell prey to social media trolls.
"Its' Shocking to hear about the sudden demise of @kavalamsrikumar. Prayers and ccondolences to his family," the actress had posted on the micro-blogging site after hearing about the demise of the popular dramatist. Even though she removed the tweet within seconds, netizens were quick to take the screenshot of the misleading tweet that went viral on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp. Soon, Mamta was heavily criticised for her blunder and she fell prey to trolls and memes on social media.
Mamta, who was last seen in the comedy entertainer "Two Countries," was well appreciated for her chemistry with Dileep. The movie has become one of the highest grossing comedy films in Malayalam after completing more than 100 days of its theatrical run in Kerala.
The actress will be next seen in Johny Antony's family entertainer "Thoppil Joppan," which has megastar Mammootty in the title role. Mamta had earlier revealed that she plays the role of a medical school student named Mariya in the film. The actress also has another Malayalam film named "Baby Sitter" in her kitty and had recently crooned for the Jayaram-starrer "Aadupuliyattam."
