The entire film fraternity and thousands of fans of late actor Kalabhavan Mani paid homage to the versatile artiste during a memorial service Sunday, March 13, at Carmel Higher Secondary School in Chalakudy.
Celebrities, including Tamil actors Vikram and Karunas, Malayalam stars Mammootty, Mohanlal, Harishree Ashokan, Innocent, Guinness Pakru, Narain, Kottayam Nazeer, Kalabhavan Shajon, Asif Ali, Sibi Malayil, Tiny Tom, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Abu Salim, Dharmajan, Suraj Venjarumoodu and Suresh Kumar, dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi, directors Kamal, Lal Jose, Siddique, Major Ravi, Lijo Jose Pellissery and Sunderdas, producer Siyad Kokkar and footballer IM Vijayan, attended the memorial service and shared their memories of Mani.

Chalakudi Municipality Chairperson Usha Parameswaran, MLAs BD Devassy and VS Sunil Kumar, Mani's wife Nimmy, daughter Sreelakshmi, brother RLV Ramakrishnan and many other family members and friends also attended the memorial.
Mani, who began his career as a mimicry artiste, later established himself as a popular comedian, character actor and villain in films of all the South Indian languages. The actor passed away March 6 at the age of 45 due to liver-related ailments.
He was a receipent of the prestigious National Film Special Jury Award and Kerala State Special Jury Award for his performance in the 1999 movie "Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum."
