Director Jeethu Joseph's collaboration with superstar Mohanlal and young star Prithviraj Sukumaran has resulted in Malayalam blockbusters. The latest we hear from the industry is that the successful film-maker will soon get associated with megastar Mammootty for an upcoming project.
Mammootty is said to have agreed to go ahead with the movie after the director narrated its story. However, they haven't decided the dates now, as the duo is busy with their upcoming projects.
Earlier, reports had it that Mammootty and Nayantara have signed Jeethu's directorial venture. However, the filmmaker had denied the rumours, stating that though he plans to direct the star, they haven't finalised on anything. If the latest reports ring true, this will be the first time Jeethu and Mammootty will be joining hands for a movie. It has to be noted that Mammootty was the first choice of Jeethu for his superhit movie, "Drishyam," which was later taken up by Mohanlal.
The upcoming as-yet untitled film, touted to be a thriller, narrates the incidents happening in a single day in an urban setting. Mammootty will apparently play the role of a common man, which the audience is familiar with.
Mammootty, whose last outing "White" turned out to be a flop, is awaiting the release of Johny Antony's family entertainer "Thoppil Joppan," which is scheduled to hit the screens on Oct. 7. Meanwhile, Jeethu's upcoming revenge thriller "Oozham" will be released on Sept. 8, locking horns with Mohanlal's crime thriller "Oppam." The eighth directorial venture of Jeethu stars Prithviraj in the lead role, and will be the second association of the actor-director duo after the 2013 movie, "Memories."
