Top Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth have been in great form of late, where both the players won the recently concluded India Open Super Series in the women's and men's singles category respectively.
To add to it, it was after Nehwal reached the finals of the competition, she also became world number one, which was for the first time that the Indian woman had done so. Srikanth had also won the Swiss Open last month, so both of them have a spring in their stride now.
But, they need to forget about their recent achievements and concentrate on their future tournament with Malaysia Open Super Series Premier their next target.
Both the Indians will start their Malaysian Open campaign on Wednesday, as Srikanth faces Rajiv Ouseph of England, which could prove to be a tricky affair.
Ouseph is no stranger to the Indian as Srikanth had defeated him last year as well, but one needs to remember that the British lad is a Commonwealth Games silver-medallist as well, which speaks volumes about the player.
With a string of victories under his name, Srikanth seems confident.
"Every win is important to me, every win motivates me, every win gives me the confidence to perform well in the next tournament," PTI quoted Srikanth as saying.
The road ahead for Srikanth is not an easy one in the competition. But, if he maintains the form that he has been showing of late, he could well defeat some top players in the competition and another major trophy could well be in his pocket.
Nehwal, on the other hand, will be involved in a first round encounter against Maria Febe Kusumastuti from Indonesia, who is an experienced player in the badminton circuit for many a years, but has not earned a huge name at the international level.
Talking about experience, Nehwal has also been in the circuit for a number of years now and she has always been prepared for any competition, irrespective of how big or small the tournament would be.
"In last three months, I have reached three finals, which means I am learning. I am not taking any tournament easily. Every tournament is difficult and every one will be prepared for me and I will have to be ready everytime," said Sania.
Expect the Indian to give it her all during the Malaysia Open as well.
But, the Indians in the competition are not going to find it easy during the tournament, as top shuttlers from around the world in both the men's as well as the women's categories are participating in the Super Series.
