Manju Warrier
The return of Manju Warrier to the screens was a celebration for Malayalam cinema lovers. The actress did not fail her audience's expectations with her sensational comeback to the industry as Nirupama Rajeev, mother of teenage daughter and a UD clerk at Revenue Department. The actress managed to give the character a new life and handled the character of an emotionally struggling middle-aged woman with ease.
Asha Sarath
With the release of two films, "Varsham" and "Angels", the actress had proved her versatility and capability in acting. In "Varsham', the actress moved her audience with her performance as Nandini. Equally strong was her character Haritha Menon, a shrewd journalist, in the film "Angels".
Aparna Gopinath
Aparna Gopinath saw release of four of her releases this year, which include "Mannar Mathayi Speaking 2", "Happy Journey", "Gangster" and "Munnariyippu". Though the first releases failed to offer her a noticeable character, "Munnariyippu" changed the game for her.

The actress had five releases this year, but it was her role in the films, "Banaglore Days" and "The Dolphins", which captured the attention of the audience as well as the critics. The actress played a pleasing role of Nivin's mother in the "Bangalore Days". The most noticeable performance of the actress was in the movie "The Dolphins", in which she played the character of Suresh Gopi's wife. Her restrained performance as a doting wife got everybody's attention.
Parvathy
Yet another actress who made appraisable performance this year is Parvathy. Her role as a paraplegic RJ, Sarah, became one of the memorable performances and the actress made sure she justifies her role in the best way possible. Her look and attitude in the movie became a trend-setter too.
Jyothi Krishna
Jyothi Krishna's performance in the movie "Njan" as Lakshmikutty, a woman with mysterious insight, deserves appreciation. The actress managed to handle the role in the required seriousness and antics, which makes her one of the best actresses of the year.
Nazriya Nazim
Nazriya, probably one of the most-discussed Malayalam actresses of the year, following her marriage with actor Fahadh Fasil. Besides her marriage, the actress also made some notable performances too. The actress had four major releases, including "Salalah Mobiles", "Ohm Shanthi Oshana", " Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram" and "Bangalore Days".
Her role of Pooja Mathew in "Ohm Shanthi Oshana" and Divya Prakash in "Bangalore Days" were in fact a new experience for Malayalam audience and made her the favourite heroine of the year.
Namitha Pramod
Namitha is another most-sought-after actress of the year. The actress was much noticed for her performances in back-to-back noticeable movies like "Law Point", "Vikramadithyan", "Vilaali Veeran" and "Ormayundo Ee Mukham".
Nikki Glarani
Nikki Galrani might be the most successful actress of the year as all her movies are box office hits. Her debut Malayalam movie "1983" gave her a new place in the industry as well as in the hearts of Malayalam cinema lovers. Later, the actress went on to do some commendable performance in the movies like "Ohm Shanthi Oshana" and "Vellimoonga"
Anusree
The actress nearly had seven releases this year, but it was her daredevil act in the movie "Ithihasa", which stunned the audience. Her performance in the movie as "a woman who changes in to a man" placed her in the list of top 10 heroines of the year.
