Malayalam cinephiles are in for a treat as they are poured with some of the much-awaited films of their favourite stars for this Christmas. Stars like Mammootty, Dileep, Prithviraj, Kunchacko Boban, Nivin Pauly and Jayasurya have confirmed their releases for this festive season where as actors like Mohanlal, Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh will give it a miss this time.
Here are the list of stars and their movies, which audience can expect for this Christmas
Mammootty
Mammootty, known for bringing best movies during festivals, would not disappoint his fans this time too. For this Christmas, Mammootty will be ready with his film "Fireman' directed by Deepu Karunakaran.
The film will also have star cast of Nyla Usha, Unni Mukundan and Siddhique in pivotal roles. The cinematography is handled by Sunoj Velayudhan, editing by V Saajan and the music by Rahul Raj.
This upcoming Mammootty starrer is produced by Milan Jaleel under the banner of Galaxy Films.
Dileep
"Janapriya Nayakan" Dileep is also set for his Christmas release, "Ivan Maryadharaman". The film is touted as a mass entertainer with all elements of a typical Dileep film with the mix of comedy, suspense, action, dance and music. The movie is directed by debutant Suresh Diwakar and will portray Nikki Galrani opposite Dileep.
"Ivan Maryadharaman" is the remake of 2010 Telugu blockbuster film, "Maryada Ramanna", directed by SS Rajamouli.
Scripted by the hit pair Uday Krishna and Siby K Thomas, "Ivan Maryadharaman" will be their 20th film with Dileep after 2013 flick "Sringaravelan".
The music is composed by Gopi Sundar while the film is produced by Anto Joseph under the banner of Ann Megha Media.
Kunchacko Boban
Kunchacko Boban's Christmas release, "Cousins", is an assured entertainer with other prominent actors including Indrajith, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Joju George joining him.
"Cousins" tells the story of the four cousins, Sam, Joji, Pauly and Tony. The story begins when Sam has a memory lapse of six years. The film revolves around the cousins' efforts to find out the reason of his memory loss.
Kunchacko Boban will be seen as Sam, Indrajith as Joji, Suraj Venjaramoodu as Pauly and Joju George as Tony.
This upcoming movie is directed by Vysakh and the scripting is done by Sethu of Sachi-Sethu combination. It is produced by Vysakh Rajan under the banner of Vyshakha Cinemas.
Nivin Pauly
The young star of Malayalam will have the release of the much-anticipated Rajesh Pillai's movie "Mili". The film, which stars Amala Paul in the lead is is touted as a motivational film with commercial elements, where Amala Paul will reprise Mili, which is said to be a challenging role for the actress. Her character is an introvert, who wants to lead a strong and independent life.
Meanwhile, Nivin will play the character of Naveen, who is a soft-skills trainer and a big part of Mili's life.
Mili" is scripted by Mahesh Narayanan, who had edited films including "Beautiful", "Traffic", "Mumbai Police" and "Vishudhan." The film also has a cast of Praveena, Shamna Kasim, Praveena, Sanusha, Soumya Sadanandan, Sai Kumar and Sreerag Nambiar.
Prithviraj
One can look forward for a lot of action in Prithviraj's next film which is "Picket 43" directed by Major Ravi. Shot in snow-covered locations of Kashmir, the film is expected to be a thriller like other Major Ravi films. The director is known for depicting the real life of army men in his films. These include "Keerthi Chakra", "Kurukshethra" and "Kandahar".
The story of "Picket 43" will be based on the concept of war and love. The film will also see Javed Jaffrey in the lead role. The cinematography is done by Jomon T John and the film is produced by MR Productions.
Jayasurya
Jayasurya is coming up with "Aamayum Muyalum", directed by Priyadarshan. The film, which is touted as an in-and-out entertainer has Pia Bajpai playing lead opposite Jayasurya.
Aamayum Muyalam" is touted as a folktale with a comic twist along the lines of Priyadarshan's hit film "Thenmavin Kombathu" starring Mohanlal and Shobhana. The script of the movie is written by Priyadarshan himself. The story revolves around people who live on either banks of a river and the conflict between them.
"Aamayum Muyalum" also features Innocent, Nedumudi Venu, Harishree Ashokan, Manianpilla Raju, Mamookoya, KPAC Lalitha, Edavela Babu, Nandu and Anoop Menon in pivotal roles. Popular dancer and actress Bhavna Pani will also appear in an item dance in the film.
