Malayalam movie "Kali," directed by Sameer Thahir, is on its way to become the first blockbuster of Dulquer Salmaan in 2016. The romantic thriller has received stupendous response from viewers since its March 26 release.
Compared to the first weekend at the U.S. box office, the film starring Dulquer and Sai Pallavi has made a good collection, grossing $24,376 from 21 screens during its second weekend (April 8-10) at the overseas box office, according to Bollywood Hungama. As per the collection report, "Kali" had grossed approximately $2472 on its opening weekend and the total gross collection of the film now amounts to $26,848 (Rs. 17.84 lakh).
"Kali," which narrates the incidents that happen in the life of a short-tempered person Siddharth, has also been doing good business at the Kerala box office. "Kali" has been ranked on the top of the list of Malayalam movies with highest opening day collection. It had made an approximate gross collection of Rs. 2.33 crore on its opening day. The Dulquer-starrer is said to have collected Rs. 8.15 crore within 10 days of its theatrical run in Kerala.
Meanwhile, Fahadh Faasil's "Maheshinte Prathikaaram" is still running successfully in the U.S. The film, which has been directed by Dileesh Pothan, has collected approximately $1,162 from two screens in its seventh weekend, collecting a total of $95,477 (Rs. 63.44 lakh). However, Prithviraj Sukumaran's "Darvinte Parinamam" couldn't perform well at the U.S box office and has only collected a total of $5,971(Rs. 3.97 lakh) in its three weeks of theatrical run.
