A major fire broke out in a high-rise office building in Mumbai on Friday, killing one, while similar fire in business buildings have been reported in Bangalore and Chennai as well.
A fire personnel was killed in the Mumbai fire, after a dozen firemen were trapped on the rooftop of the Lotus Business Park, located on Lokhandwala Link Road in Andheri.
The victim, who has been identified as Nitin Yevlekar, died of smoke inhalation, reported TOI.
30 firemen were trapped on the roof of the building for hours. The fire personnel reportedly tried to enter the building from the top. And even though they had brought down the flames, the fire started again due to strong winds, accordign to NDTV.
A coast guard chopper had to be used to airlift the stranded firemen.
The 22-storey Lotus Business Park reportedly caught fire at around 10 am. It took rescue workers over an hour to bring the fire under control.
The fire completely destroyed the top two floors, before the fire personnel brought it under control. No civilians were injured in the incident.
The building, located near the Lokhandwala Link Road, has many offices including those of film stars like Hrithik Roshan and Ajay Devgn.

Fire in Bangalore tech park
In Bangalore, a major fire is reported to have broken out at the AMR Tech park located in Bommanahalli. While the fire was said to be major, there is no reports of any harm or injury to anyone. All the employees have been evacuated from the Tally building, where the fire broke out.

Fire destroys bank files in Chennai
Meanwhile, several important files were destroyed in a fire in the second floor of a 200-year-old building in Chennai, which houses a State Bank of India office. Reports claim that the fire was caused by an electric short circuit.
The fire, in the building located on Rajaji Road, has been brought under control, and nobody was injured.
