Nani's Majnu has got good opening and made decent collection at the US box office on the first day, but the film failed to beat opening day business records of Gentleman and Bhale Bhale Magadivoy (BBM).
The Nani and Anu Emmanuel-starrer was premiered in over 115 cinema halls across North America on Thursday night and received good response from the audience in the country. Majnu collected 58,369 at the US box office in the paid previews.
Majnu shattered the record of Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, which collected $41,368 at the US box office in its premiere shows. But the movie failed to surpass the benchmarks of Gentleman and Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, which raked $72,418 and $70,132, respectively, at the US box office in the paid previews.
The Virinchi Varma-directed romantic comedy-drama received positive talk and the strong word of mouth helped it attract the viewers towards theatres on its opening day. Majnu collected 109,234 at the US box office on the first day. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "Telugu film #Majnu - USA - Week 1: Thu previews $ 58,369, Fri $ 109,234. Total: $ 167,603 [₹ 1.12 cr]. @Rentrak."
Majnu shattered the record of Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, which grossed $103,214 at the US box office in its first day. However, the movie once again failed to beat the records of Gentleman and Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, which raked $141,571 and $164,459, respectively, at the US box office in the paid previews.
