Varun Dhawan's romantic, comedy and action entertainer "Main Tera Hero" has shattered the lifetime records of "Shaadi Ke Side Effects" and "Hasee Toh Phasee" from its first week earnings.
The film directed by David Dhawan has performed very well during the weekdays. It managed to mint in ₹38.48 crore from the seven days theatrical run from Indian markets.
"#MainTeraHero Fri 6.60 cr, Sat 8.03 cr, Sun 8.10 cr, Mon 4.20 cr, Tue 4.80 cr, Wed 3.40 cr, Thu 3.35 cr. Total: ₹ 38.48 cr nett. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Shaadi Ke Side Effects" and "Hasee Toh Phasee" both minted in the range of ₹37 crore.
"Main Tera Hero" has now become the sixth highest grosser film of 2014.
Varun is surprised by the response his film has received at the box office. In an interview with Indian Express he said that he is happy if people are enjoying it.
"I didn't know about this. Well, if this is a fact then I am pleasantly surprised by the response. But, what matters to me is the film. If it continues to do well during the weekdays and people keep enjoying themselves and be entertained, then I am happy," he said.
"One lady walked upto me and blessed me. It felt good. It felt like I had made a connection with the audience."
The film's earnings would go down in second week as Amitabh Bachchan starrer "Bhootnath Returns" has released. The Bachchan starrer has received positive reviews which will boost up its box office collection. [Check out critics review here]
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut's "Queen" has finished its five weeks theatrical run in India. The film has touched ₹60 crore mark within five weeks.
"#Queen [Week 5] Fri 25 lacs, Sat 55 lacs, Sun 60 lacs, Mon 20 lacs, Tue 25 lacs, Wed 20 lacs, Thu 20 lacs. Grand total: ₹ 60.25 cr nett," Adarsh tweeted.
