Work on the upcoming MPV of Mahindra and Mahindra seems to be progressing at a rapid pace as the company continues to test its new model on the Indian roads. A new spy shot of what is believed to be the MPV of Mahindra has hit the internet, giving us an early glimpse of the model.
The latest images come from Autocar India and show the MPV in a fully camouflaged form, thus not revealing any details of the model. However, from the looks of it, the upcoming MPV seems to be boasting a boxy design with MPV stance. The Mahindra MPV is likely to have good leg room and interior space. Other details are scanty right now, as the test mule is still in its early stages of development.
Rumour has it that the new MPV will underpin an all-new platform and would come with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine under the hood. Some reports have also said that the MPV could get a downsized 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine.
Mahindra MPV, which is likely to make its market debut in 2017, is yet to be named. Previous reports had said that the MPV would be called TUV500 in India and that it is being developed under the codename U321.
When launched, the MPV will mainly rival Toyota's popular MPV, the Innova Crysta. French automaker Renault's Lodgy would also be one of the competitors for Mahindra MPV.
